I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.
(1 Corinthians 9:23 ESV)
For the apostle Paul, everything he did was for the sake of the gospel in the context of the local church so that he might be able to share the riches of Christ with others.
What might this look like for us? It may mean moving into an“undesirable” neighborhood to be part of a church plant or opening up your life and home to an orphan or a pregnant teenage girl or serving selflessly in your church to support those coming out of human trafficking or selling everything to get the training you need to go to a Third World country and live in obscurity just to tell someone else about our great Savior.
Radical / simple living is messy, expensive, inconvenient, and sounds a lot like the life of Jesus Christ … “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you by his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9 ESV).
