May the Living God, who is the portion and rest of the saints, make these our carnal minds so spiritual, and our earthly hearts so heavenly, that loving him [Jesus Christ], and delighting in him, may be the work of our lives.
From this pursuit, actually from the One we are pursuing, flows the joy and strength needed to do everything else we have on our to-do lists for the day. We are "... anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary" (Luke 10:41). Will we choose "the good portion, which will not be taken away" (Luke 10:42)? The biblical order has been clearly defined for us in Psalm 37—delight first and last in the Lord, and He will give us the desires of our hearts. Plan for this and the Lord will order our steps and provide what we need. No matter what may then happen to us, the Lord will be our strength and salvation and with that, we can face anything He may place in our path.
