"The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing" (3:17).
This is scandalous to those who know nothing of His grace. The line of thinking is if God would ever look our way, He certainly would not be kind or merciful to us unless we pulled our own weight.
But just like Jerusalem, we’re all rebellious and defiled. We refuse to listen to the divine voice. We accept no correction and will never trust in the Lord or draw near to Him on our own.
However, to those who have humbly experienced such love, they will never be the same. They shout for joy for having been made righteous, and sing the song of the redeemed back to their great God.
Who is like the Lord? To whom can you compare Him?
