Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. (Hebrews 13:7)
I praise God for the pastors and teachers who over the years have taught and counseled me, pouring themselves into my life. They have had a great impact. These were not perfect men, but the Lord used them significantly to plant the Word deep in my heart and to model what it means to be a humble man of God. Whenever I think of them, it is with joy. It’s my prayer that I would follow them as they have followed Christ. Below are only a few thoughts of appreciation for these men.
Who do you have in your life who has faithfully taught and led you in the way of truth? Be sure to honor them and imitate their faith.
For Pastor Blane and Pastor Tim who were the first to clearly proclaim the gospel to me. Pastor Tim also fleshed out what it means to be a transparent and hospitable pastor.
For Mike Grey who latched onto this college kid who was new in the faith and in need of someone to push him along in growth and service.
For Pastor Gary who saw the value in mentoring a young man with the goal of taking a role in church leadership. He demonstrated a lot of courage and patience in allowing me to attempt great things and often fail in these attempts.
For Pastor Herb who helped me to hone my discernment in regard to sound doctrine. Pastor Herb also manifested a genuine pastor’s heart—one of gentleness, wisdom and sincere love.
For Pastor Dan who ministered with integrity and pushed me to go further; when it was time for me to move on, he willingly let me go.
