How then can Christians imagine that we, using some presumptuous right as King’s kids, deserve to avoid all pain and lack of _____ in our short time here? We have forgotten the instruction of the apostle Peter as he wrote:
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps” (1 Peter 2:21 ESV).
Nowhere in Scripture are we told that Christ’s suffering erases our need to go through some of the same experiences. Our pain is working a greater good. So while we are still in this Wilderness, let us live by the promises of God rather than by what we can see, touch, and taste.
