For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation.
(Psalm 62:1 ESV)
§ I am reserving that special place in my life for “my only Deliverer” for the Lord Jesus Christ. No one or nothing else can or will take His place.
§ I am giving up on all strategies and back up plans to save my own skin. I will depend totally on Jesus and allow Him to determine the timing of my rescue.
§ Waiting is one of the most active “inactivities” there is. By God’s grace, I will fix my hope and attention on Christ and His salvation. I will not be moved or rattled, but will still my soul, and just like a child reach up for Him to scoop me up in His arms.
§ I will silence all my rants and self-centered complaints. I will not vent my dissatisfaction, unbelief or doubt to the community of saints or worse yet to unbelievers. If I cry out in pain, question why this happening or what the Lord is doing, He alone will be the One to hear these legitimate complaints. I will remember to bring thanksgiving and praise to my Lord as well—the universe is not ready to collapse.
§ God’s power and sovereignty will quiet my heart. This is not surrender or resignation to circumstances; it is trust in the One who loves me and will deliver me. To Him belong both power and steadfast love (Psalm 62:11).
